Lenny – He will and he won’t get the job! We know Dermott likes him but is just a little concerned about his experience. Consequently there have been rumours that a senior man will be brought in as either manager or director of football with Lenny as Manager or 1st team coach. The names suggested are Trappatoni and (I heard this weekend) a return of Martin O’Neil (no I don’t believe that one either). The third option with Lenny in charge also involves MoN as it would involve Walford or Robertson coming as Lenny’s no2.
Levine – Rumours were abound on Friday that he had resigned. We know he took the Scotland job based on having a club manager style level of control over the SFA football setup. Unfortunately for him there is now a new role of Director of Football and Levine will report to him (or her I suppose). Levine has made it clear to friends in the press that he didn’t realise how boring the Scotland job would be. We understand that his representatives have been spoken to about the job and he has asked Peter Houston to join him should he get the job. The Celtic job pays considerably more than the Scotland job and the Celtic no2 pays considerably more than the Dundee Utd job.
Mark Hughes – Was spoken to while Mowbray was still in charge and has asked for £40k per week after tax. Talks are still ongoing.
Hodgson/Erikson/McLaren – All have been sounded out.
