And let’s have no debate about it – over the past few years the internet has come to accept that this list is without doubt the best gauge of the Celtic season just past. One need only take a look at the previous lists produced for this award to see that we get it spot on every time and we brilliantly tell the entire story of the season in ten player profiles.

Yeah I said “brilliantly” in that last sentence. Cut me a bit of slack here. This is the second time I’ve tried to do this introduction. I suppose you’ve never shut down the wrong tab in a panic when your missus walks into the room eh? Leave me alone.

Anyway, where was I? Ah yes I was using the collective term “we” to spread the blame for this.

So over the course of this week we will count down the ten players we think were the best performers in a Celtic jersey. We’ll do 2 player profiles a day from Monday until we hit the top 2 on Friday all of which will be enhanced by the, frankly, superb photography skills of @vagelisgeo from biglens.co.uk.

Who will win that coveted Number one spot this year? Who will join Robbie Keane, Emilio Izaguirre and Charlie Mulgrew in holding the title CU Player of the Season? And will the curse of the Player of the Season award finally be broken and the previous winner make this year’s list? Who knows? Who cares?

Join us tomorrow for the 9th and 10th best player of season 2012/13. And while you wait, why not take a look back at the previous top ten lists. Season 2009/10 in particular is an absolute cracker.

Seriously wtf was going on in 2009/10? Two goalies? A best player who was only here for 5 months? N’Guemo the 3rd best player at the club? Was it really that awful? Yes. Yes it was.

This year was much better. Much.
