On Sunday 21st May, Celtic hosted Hearts for the Six-in-a-Row trophy day presentation and in time honoured fashion Trophy Day was also badge day for the Celtic FC Foundation. With five badges in the bag people are becoming conscious that when we hit the 10 they will also want to be able to show off their ten badges celebrating this remarkable achievement and as a consequence demand on badge day was at an all time high. This year the level of demand was compounded by the excellent badge design that also incorporated a commemoration of Lisboa50 celebrations.
A normal badge day will see sellers leaving their positions just as the game kicks off and taking their buckets round for emptying before receiving their complimentary match ticket. With the TIFO due up just before kick off, badge selling ended 20 minutes before kick off. Despite the earlier than usual finish Foundation badge day still raised £25,000 to continue the excellent work of the Foundation across their projects aimed at improving Health, promoting Equality, encouraging Learning and tackling Poverty.
I took my 7 year old with me on that Sunday to assist in the badge selling. I gave up my usual seat to my nephew and enjoyed the game from a different angle. From getting to the ground at 9:15am to leaving after the Brendan press conference, this is the video of our day…
(Special thanks to my team of Michael, Daniel, Ciaran, John (and his 2 grandsons) Rachel, Sean, Allan & James)
