After a Glasgow Derby draw away to city rivals Rangers, Fran Alonso’s Celtic side will be hoping to get back to winning ways as they welcome Dundee United to the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie.
The last time Celtic and Dundee United faced one another, it was a dominant display from the hoops as they came out on top with an amazing 4-0 scoreline. The Ghirls in green will be hoping to replicate that performance when they welcome Dundee United to Airdrie. When speaking on the match, Alonso spoke about the fans involvement in helping the team push on : “When there are big crowds the girls feel passionate and brave. For me, the crowd is key.”
With Women’s Football evolving, it is important for the Celtic support to make the effort to attend each game as it is vital in the girls’ title push as they need all the backing they can get.
Ireland international Claire O’Riordan has similar thoughts to her manger and believes the unity among the players and fans is crucial in their bid to get the crucial 3 points they need, O’Riordan said: “You can see the engagement between the fans, players and staff. It’s a great unity we all have, all working together towards a goal to be a successful team on a matchday.”
It will be an entertaining game for all attending with some festive activities planned for the families and the players will look to make it a day to remember by bringing home the 3 points
If interested you can watch the woman’s team this weekend at the Excelsior Stadium for the perfect family day out! Kids go free and there is a shuttle bus from Airdrie train station.
