Treating players like adults
When Ronny Deila was appointed, no-one could know whether he would succeed. A young manager of an over performing small club in Norway with very limited European football experience, in many ways he was quite a gamble. We all wanted him to succeed (who would want our manager to fail?) but it was what he was saying about the style of play which so excited. High pressing, attacking football with fullbacks as wingers and an emphasis on developing our talented youth into Champions League footballers – that was the Celtic way so if he succeeded we had something exciting to watch. After a faltering start, he got there.
