So there are some of the odds and stats for Sunday.  The referee is so important as will be Lenny’s instructions.  You and I have seen enough Walter Smith Rangers teams to know that there will be some key elements to his tactics.  It’s not rocket science, and he’s been employing them in these games on and off for 20 years.  We know what’s coming but it can be difficult to combat.

His team will sit in

Nothing new for Walter I know as we can all recall wave upon wave of Celtic attack in the early ‘80’s only for a quick break and we lose 1 – 0.  This tactic is needed even more now with the lack of pace in David Weir.  Rangers will sit in and defend very deep.  We must avoid getting too sucked in.

They Will be Big & Strong

I’m not exactly sure who is fit and suspension free for them for Sunday, but Walter loves playing his biggest strongest guys in this game

Leave The Boot In

There has been much debate in England recently about how managers instruct their players to be physical.  I’m not sure of Smith’s exact instructions, but one thing is for sure, they will leave the boot in at every tackle possible.

The game plan is very simple, but much as we hate it, it has worked a lot over his time in charge.

Lenny – you know what’s coming.  Johan, you showed in your first game that you know how to deal with this tactic – put one of them up in the air.

It’s got to be Super Sunday for Lenny’s Celt’s because with both on a winning run, something’s gotta give!
