It was Friday night action in the SWPL for the old firm rivals, Celtic came out on top with a passionate and energetic performance against a Rangers team that has been unbeaten for over a year and are the favourites to win the league title.

Caitlin Hayes was the hero, scoring two thumping headers from corners she was the only candidate for WOTM.

1-0 at half time, the hoops came racing out the blocks for the second forty-five scoring two in a matter of minutes. A stunning move finished off by Amy Gallagher and Hayes’ second of the match.

Despite showing a good attacking display, the solid defensive effort led by captain Kelly Clark set the foundations for the win.

The three points take the celts top of the table on goal difference and distances themselves from Rangers. Glasgow City have a game in hand, but the pressure is on them for the title race.

Fran Alonso was ecstatic with the win, he said: “For me, everyone was an eleven out of ten and I am just so proud of the team.”
